We know it’s not Thursday, but we’re throwing it back anyway because what we have to say is still relevant! Five years ago Social Triggers did a case study on Padron Marketing after asking our founder Katrina to implement their drafting technique and report back on her results. Katrina found that using the drafting technique resulted in 800 hits to her blog and $2,000 in revenue in one day from client acquisition.

Social Triggers was testing their drafting technique to gain links and bring more traffic to blogs. So, what is this technique? Essentially, it’s getting into the slipstream that an “expert” has already created on different media outlets. So if an expert in your industry is getting great links and coverage on a topic, there’s room for you to gain from that. Boiled way, way down: it’s cold outreach to journalists and writers who covered that business or service. You are offering your unique insight into the subject covered and how your outlook, experience, opinion, and business differs from that of the current conversation. The goal of this is to get those journalists and media outlets to then feature you and your business/service in order to contribute to the previous conversation. If this works (it won’t always), it stands to send you an incredible amount of traffic and potential revenue.

Our founder saw one of her competitors featured on a very popular blog getting great traffic from the post and successfully applied the drafting technique. She quickly saw her efforts yield a “burst in traffic [that] attracted 171 subscribers, and $2,000 in revenue from two new client acquisitions.”

We all know why businesses should be blogging and why they should be working with bloggers for influencer marketing. But our work with Social Triggers proves that you can do even more with your business’s blog with media, interview, and writer outreach. Take a look at the case study and see what you can takeaway on how to generate more traffic, acquisitions, sales, and of course, revenue for your business. The case study also offers a step by step guide in how to get drafting!
